This novella and informational text will be used to teach my students the reading standards they need to know in an engaging way. The goal is that it will also teach them to be open and compassionate individuals. I not only want to help my students become better readers, but also want to help them become productive citizens of the world. The novella, Seedfolks, is all about community. It shows how people from different walks of life can come together for one project and learn so much from one another. The informational text book, Totally Tolerant, will be read right after Seedfolks. It gives students definitions and examples of tolerance and intolerance so students are aware of the choices they should make to be a tolerant, compassionate person.
