Hi! My classroom is composed of 25 students (13 girls and 12 boys). We have students in regular division, resource, and inclusion. Our school has approximately 70% low income families. We have many supportive families but being able to ask for donations is not always an option. Teaching with literature is important because it is authentic, encourages interaction, expands language awareness, educates the whole person, and motivates students to read. My students love to discuss and share about what we have read. Finding common reading experiences helps us to push our thinking! We are working hard on having in depth, quality conversations, using talk moves, and citing evidence! Having common literature allows us to do these things!
