My students love working with Legos, but we currently don't have enough to go around. More Legos sets and baseplates in the library will allow the children to build whatever they dream up! My students use Legos to explore STEAM related topics and enhance their storytelling skills. Students write stories and use Legos to act them out. They build settings and use characters to "perform" their stories. We also use Legos when we study geography and use the atlas. The students build world landmarks and replicate flags from countries across the world. We have worked hard this year to develop a Makerspace for the kids to create and have a sense of ownership of their education. The Lego center is one of the most popular centers in our Makerspace and our students would be ecstatic if they had more blocks.
