I am a speech therapist working in an elementary school. I work with a wide variety of students, from children who are nonverbal and have no speech, to children who are trying to improve the way they say sounds and words. Some of my students do not have a way to communicate their wants/needs. They can't even ask for help or request more of something. Some of my other students get made fun of for they way they talk, because they don't say certain sounds correctly or don't have age-appropriate vocabulary to communicate with their peers.
