I have the most AWESOME class EVER! I teach a great class of High School Special Needs students. I teach students who have moderate to severe disabilities, but I like to call them handi-capable :) Fairfield is a high poverty city, and many of my students live in group homes and foster care. They don't let this slow them down though! If anything they use this as a stepping stone to start building a better life for themselves, and they know that they can start NOW by learning skills to be more independent. All of my students work very hard at becoming productive citizens of society. Some of them have jobs, are included in general ed classes, and they all do volunteer work in the community. They love community based instruction and work hard to learn how to go shopping for things they need, make the purchases with money, and wait for their change and receipt. They know the value of money and work hard to earn it!
