Young children learn best through independent exploration with the use of hands on materials. When you place an item like the sand paper tactile cards in the hands of a young child it sparks their creativity and encourages them to want to learn more. Children learn best by using their senses to explore the world around them. The dot makers offer students a bright visually pleasing tool to help construct upper and lower case letters, along with many other letter identification activities. The shiny plastic magnetic letters are smooth to the touch and are color coded to help students learn about vowels and consonants. Using the letters during centers and guided reading helps students build confidence in their ability to identify letters and eventually build words.
