Reading is SO important for every student, but especially my students that do not have lots of printed text in the home. I have chosen a variety of books that appeal to the 8-10 age range of my students. Because my students do not have access to printed text at home and our school library is limited, my students would be able to read The Bad Guys series, Captain Underpants, Pig the Winner, or On the Court with Kobe Bryant during our D.E.A.R (drop everything and read) time and at home for their 20 minutes of reading a night. I need books that make my students WANT to read MORE! That's why I chose Junie B. Jones and The Boxcar Children; these were all books that inspired me to read more when I was their age. I want to foster the same love of reading in my students that I have!
