I teach in a Title 1 school in Alaska. My students enter kindergarten with a wide range of experiences. Though some have attended preschool, there is a lack of Pre-K programs in our community, so for most students, my classroom is their first school experience. Many of my students are Alaska native and most families in my classroom qualify for free or reduced lunch. Our school believes in exposing our students to as many different opportunities as possible and as a result, we have many music, art, cultural and physical activities for students during the school day, as well as before and after.
