As a Functional Skills SPED classroom, students struggle with understanding math, reading, science and engineering concepts. Using hand-on materials along with Literacy will help my students make the connection between classroom learning and real world exploration. Sensory is needed for their self-monitoring and reinforcements during classroom work sessions. These sensory activities include kinetic sand, therapy putty and water breads are part of their positive reinforcement system and individual sensory learning needs. Learning Time is an everyday concept that all students should learn. Including time into sensory, literacy and STEM activities, student learn to watch the clock and help maintain and manage their individual time schedules.
