Flexible seating is shown to help students focus and stay on task. My students have additional sensory needs that these types of materials will help them avoid sensory input they don't like and get some of the input they need. When those sensory needs are addressed, they can shift their focus to learning and take risks to learn new things. These flexible seating options will give them more ownership over their learning. We work in centers and whole group, so this seating will allow them to get some sensory input they need while continuing to work and develop more skills in the area of self-regulation.
