My third graders are from an elementary school in Washington state. About 75% of them live in poverty, and for many of them, school is the only place where they have the opportunity to be a kid, learn about the world around them, and experience what it is like to work toward a goal. My class is a diverse group, ethnically, economically, linguistically--and of course, they have 25 unique personalities!
