All children come to school with a variety of backgrounds and needs. It is our job as educators to meet their needs as best as possible so that they can learn and grow. Many students in my classroom come to school with anxiety and special needs which make them extra fidgety. Their need for movement is often ignored in a traditional school setting. This distracts them from their work and hinders their learning. It also makes them stick out in a classroom. These children oftentimes deal with bullying and behavioral issues. By adding a few Hokki stools to our classroom seating, I can meet the needs of my high energy students better. These stools will allow for them to wiggle while they work and create more tolerance driven classroom community.
