The objective of guided reading is to aid students in becoming self-sufficient. The design of guided reading is to promote skills to help them read independently and fluently. The support these students receive in small group guided instruction time is geared toward the needs of the individual group in which they belong. The strategies taught during guided reading in the early years of education can then be applied to all books. The amazing materials I have requested would be an enormous asset to our classroom guided library. I am asking for nine different sets of guided readers and a rolling storage organizer. In each set of readers there are five copies of each story, perfect for our guided reading groups. With these resources, I will be able to offer children a varied selection of stories as their reading abilities and levels increase.
