While books on cassette tapes have a certain nostalgic feel, it is an outdated "technology". Many of my students have a difficult time using cassette tapes independently and they have limited access to books and stories to listen to. Updating to our listening center with Kindle Fires will allow the students to use current technology to access appropriate and safe online stories, based on independent reading levels, topic of interest and/or topic being explored in class. This update will also provide my students with listening skill practice, building reading confidence, increasing reading comprehension and actively engaging students with their learning.
