I have a group of vivacious, active, diverse, interesting, curious, thoughtful, and smart five and six year olds. My class is extremely diverse, but they all truly have a love for learning. Unfortunately, the rigor that we expect out of our little ones causes us to be in our seats majority of the day. The kinesthetic learners in my classroom (which seems to be most) would benefit greatly from swapping out their chairs for stability balls. The amount of modifications that I make in my classroom for wigglers is increasing. I currently have four to five students that use a "wiggle seat" daily. We rotate who gets to use the cushions because our resources are limited. I also have students that suffer from attention issues. They would benefit from having a stability ball and receiving some stimulation while be required to sit down. I always want my students to be at their best and so my job is to create an environment that encourages and supports them.
