Flexible seating allows students to take ownership of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During small group and independent work times they choose a location and seating option in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. I have noticed amazing differences in students when they are given a choice in their seating. This also helps special needs students maintain attention throughout the lessons and school day but keeping them motivated and engaged. Wobble seats are a wonderful tool to assist ADHD/ ADD Students maintain attention by “wiggling” and also is great by not distracting other students’ learning.
