There are many benefits to Guided Reading, Math, and Writing . I want my students to learn skills and strategies that will allow them to read difficult texts independently, develop higher level comprehension skills, solve real world math problems, as well as develop their writing skills. I want to increase my students performance in reading, writing, and math. I am requesting resources such as the Guided Reading Fiction/Nonfiction Paired collection for grades 2-3, closed reading journals, heavy duty book bins to store the books, writing strategies book to use with my writing small groups, math workshop framework, guided math stations and math connects for homework support. Research has shown that engaging students in the learning process increases their attention and focus, motivates them to practice higher-level critical thinking skills and promotes meaningful learning experiences. I desire to create a student-centered approach to instruction to increase opportunities for student engagement, which will help everyone more successfully achieve the learning objectives. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of resources that will allow them to read independently and develop their math and writing at their own grade level.
