We are requesting a new classroom rug to use during literacy mini lessons, whole group activities, partner collaboration work during math and science, and as a focal gathering point for our classroom community. We spend lots of time sprawled out on the floor and need a space that invites students to participate in their learning. These powerful kindergarten learners deserve a classroom rug that will make them feel comfortable at school and help them stay engaged with their learning. Currently, we are crammed together in carpet squares that don't fit our growing bodies with a rug that has no backing left on it. Kindergarten is such a special time for learning and these students would thrive in a space that truly welcomes them.
