I teach science and English Language Arts to two groups of energetic 5th graders at a Title I public school in North Dallas, Texas. These students are passionate about learning, creative, and curious. They thoroughly enjoy science and helping develop our school garden into a place of learning and enjoyment for the whole community. When I teach science, I make it hands-on, engaging, and fun. I expect that my students will learn to write like scientists as well to share their observations and conclusions with other scientists. I push my students to be critical thinkers and ask tough questions. As readers, I challenge my students to try new genres and to read often to practice strategies we have learned in class and develop a love for reading if they haven't already.
