In my classroom I think it is vital for students to learn the basic skills to be physically active so they can find a sport or activity they enjoy so they can continue to do it for a lifetime but it doesn't need to be taught in the form of traditional sports. By incorporating non-traditional sports to my PE class it exposes students to entirely new possibilities for physical activity. By playing non-traditional sports it expands their horizons and show them there are so many different way to be active and stay healthy. Non-traditional activities benefits all children but also targets children who shy away from traditional sports. It allows those students to learn the core PE standards in a modified creative way. The equipment for my project will allow me to teach my students fun activities to help them learn important motors skills but also incorporate all of our focus 6 C's of global competencies (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, character, citizenship, & creativity) to be successful in the 21st century workplace.
