We have people from all walks of life here in our town. Our kids might play ball, go hunting, or play with neighborhood friends. This is a small town, deep rooted in tradition and not always the easiest to educate. Our school is located in the worst part of town, so it is viewed in a negative way especially when being surveyed by someone not from the area. The school doesn't come across clean because it is old and run down. Our school has been a little of everything. It was once a high school, then a middle school, and now a 4th and 5th grade school. We have grandparents that come to our open house and say,"I remember when I went to school here." I try to encourage people to not judge the "school" by its cover. Living in a small town with a minimal school budget doesn't cultivate a lot of newer learning experiences for our students. I want my students to have cutting edge technology and be given opportunities for scholastic success despite their rural surroundings.
