I'm an educator with over 20 years of experience in the educational realm. This will be my first-year teaching Life Skills. Living with a disability is hard enough, but not having the skills, resources, or materials to practice the life skills necessary for success in real-life is even more difficult. I would like for my students to feel confident that when they go out into the real world that they have what it takes to do the best they can with whatever they may choose to do. Our elementary school is an "Achieve 180" school. It is a research-based action plan to support, strengthen, and empower undeserved and under-performing communities in HISD. In order to increase student achievement, best practices from successful school turnaround initiatives - including effective teachers, strong principal leadership, and an environment of high expectations for both students and staff - are incorporated into the plan.
