The first thing many classes asked their first time in the STEM rotation was if they would be able to build or work with robots. I want to give them this opportunity. Learning to code will help prepare my students for the world they live in today. Technology is all around us, and they need to learn to communicate with it. Coding is the literacy of the digital age. It inspires creativity while students apply math and problem solving skills in real life situations. Students can learn about coding using a website or app, but I believe they will gain a deeper understanding of coding using physical robots like Dash and Dot. Using real robots will give them a better mental model of how coding works as they watch them physically respond to coded commands. My students are anxious to learn coding with real robots. With your help, I hope we can fulfill that dream.
