Knowing who we are as individuals helps us understand the people and world around us. With your donation, you will be providing books to my students that represent them, and the global majority. Through interactive read aloud and book studies, these books will give students the opportunity to learn and connect to rich narratives from a variety of perspectives. Books allow us to reaffirm our identities, they let us experience life other than our own. "If we don’t give children books that are literary mirrors as well as windows to the whole world of possibility if these books don’t give them the opportunity to see outside themselves, then how can we expect them to grow into adults who connect in meaningful ways to a global community, to people who might look or live differently than they.
