As I said, my students crave to know the world around them. Through this photography class, they will learn the history of cameras, photography, and the artists behind the most memorable images we see. They too will be able to capture the beauty around them while learning how light, shadow and a little patience can create the most amazing images and art. They will learn how the toy Holga cameras work, and how to use it to capture weekly projects like texture, shapes, people, and landscapes. My students will use the HODA Darkroom Film Changing Bag to load the camera with Ilford HP5 400 120 Black and White Film. Using "old school" techniques will help my students understand and appreciate what it takes to produce beautiful and unique images. After they shoot, the roll of film will be sent off to process. Once received, my students will feel the joy of their creations. They will see the world around them in a way they never knew existed. They will learn to appreciate the art of photography and cameras while gaining a new sense of self through artistic expression.
