After completing our 5th year at Northeast Middle School our school has closed and the junior high is moving back to the high school. I am scheduled to continue to teach physical education and health at what will now be, North Central Jr/Sr High School. Our projected attendance for the upcoming school year will be 385 if the current number of students enter grades 7-12 (data from the Indiana Department of Education website). Our school corporation has closed three schools in the past six years. The most recent closure is Northeast Middle School with the movement of the students back to the high school. We continue to have steady declining enrollment each year. We live in an impoverished area with 41% of the students qualifying for free lunches and 7% more qualifying for reduced lunches (publicschoolreview.com). With the declining population comes declining funds from state and is why I seek funding.
