The social-economics of my school is title one (impoverish). However, other schools in my district rate with a higher overall percentile (>71%) of impoverished students which garnishes those schools with additional funding. This funding shortfall, beyond what I as a teacher can afford to provide, leaves my students to fend for themselves in pursuing interesting reading material. Unfortunately these latch-key children, sometimes immigrant, and all too often single parent homes will find the financial situation at home no better to provide quality reading material.
