Right now, my students use a listening center with audio cassettes and cds. They are not familiar with this type of outdated technology and new books are not readily available to keep the book choices current. This limits the center in content and ease of use. Using iPods would make the center user friendly and enable the students to practice the use of current technology while building literacy skills. The students would be able to work independently without interruption. Most importantly, it would open up an endless possibility of available literature to them, enriching their vocabulary, thereby increasing their reading ability.
