These centers will be a great asset for helping kindergarten students expand their knowledge of phonemic awareness. Phonemic awareness is one of the first foundational skills needed for reading. Phonemic awareness is done auditorily using letter sounds and where they are in words. Without this major skill, students will struggle blending letters together to form words. I will be able to use these centers daily in our English Language Learners reading block and I am excited to use these centers to help our students increase and strengthen their beginning reading skills. The influence of these centers can help carve the pathway to a lifelong journey into the world of reading.
