Reading was such a big part of my life growing up that it affected my decision to become an educator. Sadly, I have been a Math and Science teacher for 6 years, and have not been able to dive in to reading as much as I'd hoped. This upcoming school year, though, I will! Being assigned as a 2nd Grade Gifted Teacher, I am now in need of books to create a classroom library for my students. These children are amazing - many already reading at a higher grade level than they're in! Unfortunately, these student don't have any challenging or meaningful books waiting for them when they walk into my classroom... at least not yet! I work at a Title I K-8 Center and will average about 25 students in my classroom. And since my group of kids will be gifted, I am expected to raise the bar and really challenge these budding minds to think, explore, and analyze things at a high level.
