Flexible seating benefits students in many ways including: burning off excess energy, improving metabolism, strengthening core muscles while improving oxygen flow, increased motivation and focus, and better engagement. Students often lose focus while sitting stagnant which increases fidgeting and disruptive behaviors. Flexible seating empowers children to choose what seat works best for their particular learning style and needs. I have seen changes in my class already by including seating choices of seating using crates turned into benches and pillows on the floor. Students appear more content to be in school. Flexible seating/flexible learning environment has provided me with the opportunity to bring fun back into school.
