These materials will give our students access to books they would not normally have access to. The students in our school come to us as lower level readers. To foster a love of learning we have continued to read aloud to them daily. Due to lack of funding, the students do not have copies of the books to hold and follow along. It will be greatly beneficial to our kids if they could hold a book and follow along as we read or listen to a story. This will increase their fluency as a result. There is so much we would be able to do with the books if each student had a copy. There are novel studies that we could provide along with a copy of the book so our students are able to dig deeper into the text and extend their learning. The students will focus on vocabulary, fact/opinion, short response comprehension questions, and so much more.
