Many early childhood classrooms now use some type of light table to engage students and encourage discovery through exploration and play. The Preschool Light Table I'd like to purchase allows a large enough space for exploration and cooperation, but is not so large that it will overtake our classroom. It even gives us some storage space! The accessories I've selected should encourage cooperative play and learning, as well as a manipulative way to learn and practice preschool science, language arts and math concepts. Light tables have been shown to increase engagement and concentration in early childhood students. Preschoolers learn through doing, and the glow of the light table seems to draw them in and keep them interested in what is available there. With the new materials I've selected, along with other materials we already have (water beads and shaving cream, translucent magnetic builders, even non-translucent accessories and natural items), we can explore science, math, reading and writing through play and hands-on experiences.
