Majority of my students come from poverty. My school is 95% Economically Disadvantaged and have little to no memorable reading experiences. They are amazingly adaptable and inspiring as they share their lives with me throughout the school year. My campus is a 5th and 6th grade campus with many challenges. I teach one Co-Teach class which is designed to integrate students who were formerly in the resource class (special education classes), into the general education setting. In addition to needing an additional SpED teacher in the classroom, this population of children have different types of learning disabilities and require special accommodations to help them succeed in the classroom. Sharing lasting reading experiences with our students is my highest goal. I don't want to just teach reading, I want to develop a love of reading.
