For this project, my primary goal is to turn my classroom into an environment where every student can be successful. At the end of last school year, I asked my students, “How could I make this classroom an even better learning environment?” The consensus among my learners focused on one key change: comfortable seating options that would give them choice in how they learn best. I also polled my students, and their responses showed that adding seating options that would allow them to wiggle, bounce, or sit on cushions would be the most popular and beneficial. In regards to need, flexible seating options would benefit all students, including our neuro-diverse learners. For students who need to wiggle or bounce during mini-lessons or independent work, exercise balls, wobble discs, and active seating stools would be a highly effective alternative to sitting in a regular desk or chair. Flexible seating options also enhance student-centered learning which serves as one of our focal points for our campus improvement plan. By giving my students quality flexible seating options, my classroom will transform from solid to sensational. Most importantly, my learners will benefit from having multiple options to meet their learning needs and enhance their well-being.
