English Language Learners have the challenge of learning a new language and new knowledge at the same time. For some, this feat may be overwhelming and confusing. It is my goal to increase their background knowledge by using different teaching strategies with the aid of different resources and materials. The students will use the phonics materials (word building cards, sight word games, and hands-on vowel games) to learn how the English language works. Students will read the books to gain a better understanding of diversity and make connections between the text and the curriculum. The students will use the hands-on math materials (magnetic place value disks, math sets, and games) and visuals to help them better conceptualize the lesson and achieve their goals. Using these hands-on materials, visuals, and books will lead these English language learners on the road to success.
