Science can be a magical world if students can understand that the phenomena that we discuss in class actually connects to their real life and that they can use this information to solve problems now and for our futures. Providing "hands-on" science experiences will give my students a solid understanding of science as they work with solar powered cars to learn how photosynthesis works, or watch the metamorphosis of a frog to learn the difference between reptiles and amphibians and watch a radish seed root grow through a jewel case to determine if we can manipulate the direction that the root will grow. There are so many interesting and exciting things kids can do with science if they are given the supplies that they need. Science is just not the same when they "watch" it happen, my students need to have the opportunity to "make" it happen with their own hands.
