Offering students a variety of options for where they will read and work is a fantastic way to help them take ownership in their learning. I have found that not only are they more engaged when they are given a choice, but they are actually excited to work and read around the room. I want to see each child in my classroom grow and thrive; I believe that giving them a variety of options will help to meet their individual needs. It's important that our classroom is a warm, inviting and inspiring space that students are thrilled to come to each day. I want to fill the space with brilliant books and quotes that inspire their natural curiosity. Our classroom environment needs to encourage students to stay focused and comfortable, whether they are writing a 5 paragraph essay, or reading a new favorite novel. They will spend more time in our classroom than in their own homes. It needs to be a favorite place to be.

About my class
