Flexible seating is an important part of personalized learning. My students have various learning needs and the ability to move while learning will allow them to meet their sensory needs that often interfere with learning. Many of my students tilt back in regular chairs that often result in falling backwards. Rocker chairs will give them the ability to seek that rocking motion while learning. Stability ball chairs will allow my constantly moving students to bounce when needed, but stay supported during the motion. Taking ownership in learning is often difficult for my students as instruction is guided by me. Having the choice of where they would like to learn and what they sit on allows them the ownership and can provide an incentive or motivator to learn.
