Welcome to my class! I have taught 2nd grade at Stone Elementary for 14 years now. I typically have 20+ energetic boys and girls. Our school is located on top of a beautiful plateau in middle/east Tennessee. Some of my students come from extremely poor families, non english speaking families, foster homes, shelters, grandparents as parents families, and single parent homes. Most get free lunch, many take home Harvest Foods backpacks, and we are starting free breakfast for all, in an effort to help our students come to school better prepared to learn. My students are eager to learn, like challenges, and usually just need to be encouraged, understood, supported, and believed in. I believe our schools need to provide every opportunity available to these kiddos, especially since many of them don't have those opportunities at home.
