In this project I am looking to create a home lab as well as a market lab where students will meet the Iowa Core Standards for kindergarten while learning in a cooperative group with hands on learning opportunities. I am excited to bring this vision to life in for this year's kindergarteners. Our learning labs keep students highly motivated and engaged while learning and applying rigorous learning standards. An example of how we will use the market to meet reading and math standards will be: Students will read a note from the market manager on how best to set up the market so customers can find things easily. They will use visualization skills as well as inferencing to set up the market as they see the manager speaking about in his letter to them. Later during math, students will solve problems that involve inventory type questions such as, "You should always have six eggplants in stock. Right now you have 2. How many more do you need to add to your order?" Creating these new labs will allow students more choice in their learning.
