As a second year special education teacher, I am continually trying to add to my developmentally appropriate and engaging materials that I can offer to my students as we work towards student growth. In this project, I've added a variety of items focusing on early learning concepts including literacy and language, sensory/motor, and social/emotional growth and development. The books, learning cards, games, and dramatic play items will support early literacy and language as the students listen to stories, explore the books, and engage with one another through play. The scoopers, variety of blocks, and other small toys will allow students to work on their sensory/motor skills in new and exciting ways. The fidgets will provide sensory input to those who need something to focus and do their best, and the rug will offer a quiet, calm place to go when students need to reset their bodies and minds.
