The students with whom I work live in chaos most of the time. While all families are doing the best they can, education sometimes is placed on the back burner when compared to daily struggles to have enough food, safety, shelter, etc... Our students need to continue to learn responsibility and these “book buddies” allow them something stable that they bring home every night and return to school every day. It will be one of the few constants in their lives. A simple bag holds so much more meaning and purpose in a low income school like mine and I hope that this project will be fully funded to provide our students with this thoughtful gift of knowledge, power, and hope!
