I teach kindergarten and my students all come from low socioeconomic families. I chose this project for my students because our classroom needs more books at our level. At our school, we are starting the Accelerated Reader program and I would like to provide my students with equal opportunities to learn to love reading as much as I do. Each student will need to be able to take home a book to read and come back to school and pass the comprehension quiz. I need more leveled books for that to happen. I chose AKJ books because they provide reasonable prices on books and they are leveled easily for my students to find book topics that they find interest in. My goal is to motivate my littles into becoming life long lovers of readers. The more books that I can have available for them to have access to, the more likely that they will find a book that will just hypnotize them and make them want to read again and again.
