Twenty-first century skills can't be fully implemented in a 19th century classroom. Today's students need the freedom to collaborate and communicate. The classroom environment should encourage these skills instead of hindering them. In order to promote twenty-first century learning skills, my students need flexible seating options in the classroom. I want my students to be productive, collaborative, and engaged in their learning tasks in order to be successful, not only in my classroom, but also in their future endeavors. Flexible seating will encourage and offer students movement, choice, and modifications for learning styles and interests.
