A common skill across the grade levels I teach is sorting. The food items and money will allow us to sort in a multitude of ways. I will provide each student with items and then we will provide categories for them to sort. They could sort healthy and unhealthy. They could pull the fruits and vegetables and sort by color. They could find the foods they eat and don't eat. These food items give us many ways to explore and sort. The money will help us with life skills and sorting. Students thrive when they can interact with their learning tools and the food sorts will allow them the interaction to learn and grow. My teaching assistants and I can model using our whiteboards and I can create colored printed sheets that model our sorts. These can be laminated and used again once we return to our classroom.
