My students come from many different walks of life. Our school is a Title 1 school where most of our students are living in poverty. Some come from broken homes, custody battles, taking care of themselves, Spanish migrant workers, etc. We have families who live by the day, we have students who trip over the soles of their shoes, we have students who during the winter months do not have a jacket to keep warm, we have families who the student in 1st grade has a higher education than the parents. Parents who we can't get them to come in for a conference nor a working phone number to call to discuss the child's progress.
