Students will use the materials we receive to help reinforce reading literary and informational text. The materials will be used in “Neon, Read On” sessions that help students not only identify, but actually see the various parts of text structure, vocabulary, main idea, and supporting evidence. My 6th grade students will participate in a room transformation to master reading comprehension strategies. Having a NEON themed classroom transformation will keep the students engaged in the content, while also having a new sense of excitement. By donating to our project, you will help students look forward to participating in lessons that will enhance their reading skills and helping students look forward to time in the classroom setting. Using highlighters to annotate the text, then adding black lights to bring those annotations to a new level will not only enhance the students’ desire to learn, but will give them a unique and positive experience in the classroom setting that they will always remember.
