STEAM is such a new learning concept and something that I want to bring exposure to in my classroom; however, my 2nd graders are so far behind in reading and writing that I need activities that can combine them together to make learning more meaningful. My 2nd graders will use their creativity to design scenes for their stories and choose characters that they get to bring to life with their writing. The students will use the LEGO blocks to create story settings and the LEGO figures to be the characters. My students can read the story Iggy Peck Architect or Rosie Rever Engineer for inspiration. They can also read Violet the Pilot and How a House is Built to jump start their creativity. I look forward to reading their stories and I can't wait to see what their imaginations will create!
