Our classroom is full of vibrant and energetic 5 and 6 year old children. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. They are all very eager to learn and grow. Movement and technology are the priorities for our classroom this year. We all know that technology is becoming more and more of a norm in the everyday classroom and we want to keep our kids up to date with the mist current technology. Sitting still is difficult for young children. Honestly, they shouldn't have to sit still all the time. Research shows that one can only sit still and maintain attention for one minute per every year of their age. For example, a 6 year old can maintain attention and sit still for 6 minutes before becoming antsy. Lastly, the idea behind flexible seating and giving children choices helps them to become thinkers and truly discover what helps them to be most successful as a learner.
